One thing I’ve found while hosting or attending parties is how much more enjoyable parties are when games are played. I guess I should preface this blog by saying that Filipino family parties and celebrations tend to be a day-long event so it’s nice to throw in some fun games for adults to enjoy. I didn’t have time to document how I made each project but I’ll try to include the materials I used and some tips so you can make your own.
I like to think of myself as a funny (and fun) person so I knew I wanted to have baby shower games that were engaging and really fun for my family. There were a few games I couldn’t make in time but I figure I’ll save those games for a future baby shower. The majority of these games I found on Pinterest or I played some type of variation myself at a past baby shower.
Beer or Pregnant Belly?
I knew I had to get super creative when searching for photos as a bunch of my relatives work in healthcare and have seen their fair share of baby bellies. I think searching for the photos was probably the funniest and most enjoyable part for me since I spent the majority of this time laughing my butt off. After searching variations of “beer belly” and “pregnant belly,” I found hilarious faux maternity photos of men posing with their “pregnant” aka beer bellies.
This game was super easy and only required a foam board, a paint pen, scissors, some tape, and funny photos. You’ll also need some pens and scrap paper when playing the actual game. I did a test run of the game with my mom who is a mother of three and a Registered Nurse. She scored a 7/15 correct! Whomp whomp.
Originally I wanted to recreate the “Pin the sperm on the egg” game but I was a little crunched on time so I made a “pin-the-turd” version. This game definitely isn’t for everyone so I would suggest gauging it towards your audience. I knew my family would think it was super funny so I decided to go for it.
I would be lying if I didn’t mention that the diaper looks a little “maxi pad” like which I think makes it even funnier. For this project, I simply used a white foam board, a sharpie, brown paper, scissors, and some tape. I freehanded the diaper drawing which is why it looks like a diaper/pad hybrid haha.
Toilet Paper Diaper:
I love this take on the popular toilet paper wedding gown most people play at bridal showers. This was a lot of fun to watch my relatives create makeshift diapers. You may want to ration out the toilet paper for an added challenge. You’ll need a package of toilet paper and some duct tape. Everyone will be working in a group of two or more.
Baby Name Race:
This game was super easy and a fun way to test everyone’s ability to find names with names start with X or Z. I was surprised at how quickly everyone finished!!
I changed up this game by adding a few rules! Also, I forgot to save a prize (Whoops!) for this game at the end of the shower so I gave my little niece a few of my succulent plants in lieu of a prize :)
Look out for an upcoming post about my the guest book I created for the shower! It was really fun to create and a great way to dress up a traditional guest book with the cutest paper onesies.
